My parents sent a check to retroactively cover the cost of COBRA since I am no longer a college student and am no eligible for health insurance through my part time job. The check was sent arount the 20th of January. I have not heard anything from COBRA stating that I am covered. I am very sick and would like to see a doctor tomorrow. What do I show as proof of medical insurance?
Since COBRA is a continuation of your dad's employer's group health policy, you will be able to use the same ID cards. Your doctor's office will be able to submit the claim to the same address as before. The "old" card will be re-activated onc ethe employer or their plan administrator has received your COBRA payment. You can contact your the employer to see if your COBRA has been activated or you can call your insurance company, the phone number on your ID card.
