Q: I am being laid off from my job. Does Cobra cover all pre existing medical conditions?

A: COBRA is a federal law that requires an employer (with more than 20 employees) to offer you continuation of their group health plan.  COBRA coverage is a continuation the same benefits, same coverages you have now.  If you have coverage for your pre-existing conditions now, there will be coverage when you elect COBRA. COBRA allows you to keep health insurance when you may not be able to find coverage elsewhere due to your pre-existing conditions.  Under COBRA law, your employer is required to mail you the COBRA packet.
