Q: If I am employed and my wife has a preexisting condition, do I have to get COBRA only for her and then can I get insured by my employer for me and my children only or do I have to get COBRA for the entire family since my wife has a preexisting condition?

A:   The employee does not have to accept COBRA coverage for themselves to get their spouse or dependent children covered under COBRA continuation.  You will be able to elect COBRA for just your wife to get coverage for her pre-existing conditions.  To find a more affordable alternative to COBRA for you and your children, please Click Here  .
