Q:  I currently am covered by a Blue Cross of CaliforniaHMO plan and the premium paid is $xxx.xxx for medical, and $xx.xx for dental. Can you please advise what my payment would be with COBRA? Also, can you confirm that I am eligible for coverage if I voluntarily leave this job? Thanks arianna

A:  Voluntary or involuntary termination of employment, for reasons other than "gross misconduct", are qualifying events for COBRA.  Once you elect COBRA you would be continuing the same BC/BS policy that you were on prior to termination. The difference would be that you are responsible for 102% of the monthly cost of that group health plan. You will get the premium information in the mail along with the election from.
