Q:My daughter has Cobra insurance from her former Employer. She currently covers her self, husband and two children. Due to money problems we are paying the premiums and it’s not easy. Can she drop her husband and reduce the premium. He then can get his own insurance and we can continue to pay a reduced about for her and the two children?
A: COBRA law allows you to remove a family member and still be able to keep the COBRA continuation on the others. If your family does not have any pre-existing conditions and does not need on going medical treatment, you should consider a more affordable COBRA alternative plan.
