Q: I was dismissed from Stock Building Supply on February 29th and returned to work on March 31, 2008. I applied and paid for Cobra for the month of March, but returned to work March 31st. I would like to return to my previous health plan thru Stock Building Supply. How does this affect my Cobra coverage and what is the procedure to follow to ensure that I am covered with all my health care needs.
A: Your HR department or benefits manager can inform you of the plan requirements. Since you went back to work for your previous employer, there may be a waiting period or probationary period before you can be added back on the group plan. Once you become enrolled in the group health plan then you will no longer need COBRA and it will be cancelled.
