Q: I have contacted my insurance company for cobra coverage for my daughter - who recently graduated, but they seem to be unable to get her enrolled. It has been 3 weeks and all they tell me is they are working on it. Can I do anything to make them enroll her?

A:  Your employer’s HR Department should be able to help you.  After you elect COBRA and make your first payment, it could take the insurance company up to 30 days or more to process the request for COBRA continuation.  During this time period you do not have “proof” of coverage.  Once the process has been complete they will re-active her insurance.  If you are interested in an affordable Alternative to COBRA, click here for more information.
