Q:  My husband will go on Medicare shortly and we are on COBRA and I will have individual extended coverage which will end Feb. 2009. Can I get coverage through COBRA to cover me for maybe 4 years or more at the individual rate I am paying now through my husband's former employee?

A:  The maximum time a spouse is allowed COBRA is 36 months.  However, the insurance company you have may offer COBRA conversion plans.  You should contact your insurance company to see if you are eligible.
