Q:  I am on Cobra in the State of Florida. I have been declined for individual health insurance because of pre-existing conditions - what are my options when Cobra runs out?

A:  A new employer’s group plan can not decline you or put limitations on pre-existing conditions if you have had 18 months of creditable coverage.  If a group plan is not an option, you maybe able to purchase a plan through your state’s department of insurance.  You can find their phone number at www.naic.org.  If you are interested in an Alternative to COBRA, click here for more information.
