Q:  My 26 year old daughter is insured under COBRA. Her 18 months runs out on July 31st. Can we extend it?

A:  The maximum amount of time an employee can continue on COBRA is 18 months.  However, a dependent may be able to obtain another 18 months for a total of 36 months if a second qualifying event should occur.

However, you may be eligible to convert your COBRA coverage to an individual policy from your insurance company if they offer an individual policy.  You have 30 days from the termination date of COBRA coverage to request this individual policy.  Contact your insurance company for more information.
