Q: I have health and dental insurance thru my company I work for. I also have coverage for my family. My son turned 23 and he had to be dropped October 2006. I got cobra for him starting with my 1st payment November 2006. I have been current and just paid the May 2007 payment. He is in California right now attending school and needed to go to the dentist. The dentist called the dental ins. and they said he is not covered. I called up the cobra (personal choice account) all paperwork was sent in November 2006 and they said all payments have been made to ODS. Now I called ODS they have no record of my son. The dentist did the same. I just called again today 4/27 and said he is not covered even when I gave them all of the info. I called personal choice account 3x and they insist everything is done correctly from there end. They have contacted ODS also with no response. Where is all my money going and my son needs immediate care for his tooth? He already has paid 117 dollars to the dentist for a checkup. This in unfair and I really need help in this matter.

A:  It sounds to me that there is lack of communication between the administrator and the insurance company. The money you pay to the employer or administrator goes to the payment of the insurance company. Somewhere there is a miscommunication? You may need to contact your state's insurance department to help you to get this straightened out.
