Q:  I would like to reinstate my cobra coverage it was terminated while I was traveling and missed a payment by a couple of days?

A:  Federal COBRA requires that the employer give the employee a 30 day grace period to make up a past due payment. Once the grace period has expired the employer does not have to accept any late payments. However, there maybe state laws that the employer must follow.  You can visit www.naic.org to find the phone number for your state’s department of insurance for more information
