Q:  I was just laid off from a small business that did not offer me health insurance; I bought my own health insurance. Is there a COBRA plan for someone in my situation and, since I am now out of work, would it be cheaper that what I'm currently paying?

A:  To be eligible for COBRA you have to have had a previous insurance policy thru your employer.  COBRA is a continuation of your insurance from your previous employer.  Your options are to find your own health plan and shop around with what works best for you.
