Q:  I was laid off last Feb. my severance pay period ends this Wednesday, and I'll have an additional 14 days of coverage after that. How do I go about signing up for COBRA-is my employer supposed to contact me or do I handle it myself and also where do I send the premium payments? Also, will the stimulus package reduce premiums?

A:  Cobra is a federal law that allows you to continue your same coverage you had through your previous employer.  To do so you would contact your previos employer and they would be able to provide you with a Cobra packet to enroll.  They should send it out, but just for a peace of mind I would contact them to be sure.  They are the ones that will fill you in on all of the information you will need, regarding were you send your payments and if you are going to be eligible for the reduction in premiums.
