Q:  I recently emailed a question and might have left off part of my email address, so here is my question again....After 1 year I resigned (instead of being terminated) and was told I was only eligible for COBRA for 3 months, which I have since paid for (Aug/Sept/Oct), but I was told by a relative that the law requires coverage up to 18 months....is the company correct or am I eligible for coverage up to 18 months? Thank you.

A:  COBRA is an option up to 18 months.  You would need to talk to your previous employer as to why they said you are only eligible for 3.
