Q:  My husband became unemployed initially in Sept. of 2007, we have been collecting Cobra ins. As of Aug. 1, 2008 he went on Medicare and was dropped from Cobra but I still am covered. Can I get this coverage for up to 36 months since the qualifying event is because he went on Medicare?

A:  As far as my understanding goes, due to the fact that your husband went on Medicare, I believe you are entitled to the extended Cobra coverage up to 36 months.
