Q:  I currently have health, maternity and pregnancy coverage for my wife and 8 yr old son on my group health plan but my company is forcing resignations to cut costs. What are my options under cobra and my benefits for my family and unborn child?

A:  When you lost your job through your company you will be able to opt for Cobra coverage through your previous employer’s group plan.  When you lose your job they will send you a Cobra packet to enroll.  Your wives pregnancy will be covered as well as your unborn child will need to be added to the policy when he/she is born.  To find out what your premiums are going to be, your employer whom you get your Cobra through would be able to let you know what those costs are going to be.
