Q: I am leaving my job and will be sent the cobra form in the mail. I want to know if i can make my spouse the main applicant on the insurance by taking myself off. She is pregnant and I need her to be covered and than after 90 days we will both be covered by new job group benefits. Is that possible?
A: Yes. When you get the election form in the mail, you can choose your benificiary coverage. You are not able to add dependents unless the employer allows or at re-enrollment times.
