Q:Hello - my current employer has sold our division, and I will need health insurance elsewhere. In planning for the future, will COBRA cover me if I become pregnant during the 18 months my employer is offering COBRA to us? Will COBRA offer child coverage such as immunization and follow-up doctor’s visits after a baby is born? What happens if I become pregnant under COBRA but the baby is not due until after the 18th month time period? Would appreciate your help with these questions. Thanks!
A:If you are on Cobra coverage it’s just a continuation of the same coverage you had when you were working. Therefore, if you had maternity coverage when you were on the group health plan, it would be coverage on your Cobra.
