Q:  Can the company that I had previously worked for increase my payments to them? I worked for the company for 12 years ...is 18 months the maximum

A:   Your previous employer has no control over the cost of the insurance.  If their health insurance company has a rate increase you will be responsible for paying the additional premiums. Also, only a disability can extend the COBRA continuation for an additional 11 months for a total of 29 months.
