Q:If Cobra would have started October 1st but the former employee isn’t opting for the coverage until March 1st does the 18 month Cobra period go back to October or does the 18 month start in March with the 9 month reduction?
A:The coverage period starts as of the date of the qualifying event (October) and the nine month subsidy would begin in March and go for the 9 months and end November 30th.
