Q:I am 64 yrs old and want to retire at 65. I am not under cobra but I have ins through my employer, with my husband on it, If I retire will my husband be eligible for Cobra as a single plan and for how long?
A:When you retire and are eligible for Medicare your husband can go on Cobra without you.As far as my understanding goes I believe he will be eligible for Cobra coverage up to 36 months. To verify this information though and to enroll you husband in the Cobra coverage you need to contact your previous employer whom you were on their group health plan.
