Q:  I appreciate your quick response, but I don't think I made myself clear. Can I CHOOSE to go on 1st job's plan, rather than 2nd jobs? That is to say, since I have been on job #2's group plan for a month, do I forfeit my rights to go on 1st job's COBRA (it would be my preference of the two jobs). Original question below: I'll try to make this as easy as possible: Was laid off March 30th; started new job April 1st and accepted new group insurance through new company. Was laid off from new job April 30th. Will I have the option to still go on 1st job's COBRA (I still have until May 30th---it would be better coverage and less expensive) or am I ineligible for 1st company's COBRA since I have been on a different group policy for a month? Many thanks.

A:  My pleasure, now the response to your new question.  If you opt to take the first job that offered you Cobra coverage, you can, as long as you are in your 60 “deciding” period to take the coverage.  However, to take Cobra coverage, you have to pay retro-actively to your last day of benefits.  Therefore you are going to have to pay for the previous month; I hope this makes sense to you.  If you have any further questions you can contact me directly at 877-279-7959 ex 219.
