Q:  1)My property is shutting down 6/30/2009 for Hilton, we are being bought out under the WARN act, the new company does not have heath benefits, do we still qualify for COBRA coverage? 2) If you enroll in COBRA does are plan stay the same that we have now under Hilton? 3) Can you choose to only carry dental or medical? Or does it have to be the same benefits you enrolled in? For example I have dental, medical and LTD, I only want to keep my dental portion, is that possible to cancel the others and only pay for what you need? Thank you sooo much!!

A:  To be eligible for Cobra, there needs to be a group health plan in force.  Therefore if your company is closing and there is no longer a group health plan, then Cobra is unfortunately not going to be an option.  When you apply for Cobra, the coverage would remain the same be if you had co-pays, your deductible, if you had dental etc.
