Q:  Hi, I was on the cobra plan for a few months. My Cobra coverage ended on December 31st, 2008. I started with my new company on January 5th. 2009. I just go the bill from my new insurance company stating that I have a pre-existing condition and they won’t cover it. Isn't there a grace period? Thanks.

A:  If you have had continuous coverage for the last 18 months without a gap of more than 63 days of coverage you should still be eligible.  It all depends on what kind of group health plan you are on now.  If that is the case you should contact your Plan administrator to straighten this situation out.
