Q:  I was involuntarily terminated on 1/12/09 (not for misconduct). I have COBRA coverage. I have not received any paperwork on the Cobra subsidy from my former employer. I would appreciate information on the subsidy to confirm I am eligible (I believe I am) and on how to apply for the subsidy. Thank you.

A:  Involuntarily terminated is one condition to be eligible for the subsidy, but you have to also not have another option of health coverage.  For example, if your spouse is employed and you have the option of received coverage through that, the reduction would not be available to you.  To verify your eligibility, that information is going to come from your previous employer whom you have your Cobra coverage through.  You are going to need to contact them directly to find out if you qualify for the reduction in premium.
