Q:  I was laid off from work 5/01/09. My last day of coverage is 5/31/09. Am I automatically covered or do I need to sign up?

A:  You need to apply for Cobra to have coverage, you need to do so through your previous employer, the HR department may be able to answer questions if not they can put you in contact with your Cobra administrator.  But to apply for Cobra coverage, your employer is going to give you a Cobra packet that should include your monthly premiums as well as the steps to apply.
