Q: I am ending one job on June 21 and starting a new one on July 1. If I get COBRA, will I have to pay an entire month's premium or can it be pro-rated at all; and, if so, how do I indicate that when signing up and purchasing the one-month plan?
A: If you apply for Cobra, it is not going to be pro-rated, its going to be your monthly premium. Cobra often times can be very expensive as well; if you do not have any pre-existing conditions and are interested in an alternative plan that is some times 70% more affordable than your Cobra feel free to click the following link, Short Term Medical Coverage to view the plans that we would have to offer. They are not affiliated with Cobra; they are alternative plans that would cover all new illness and injury.
If you would like to sign up for your Cobra coverage, you need to do so through your previous employer.
