Q:When US Airways went bankrupt, the government stepped in to help pay a portion of our COBRA and we were told that because we had COBRA due to a bankruptcy that our coverage was for life. Is this true? Or is 'for life' translated as 'till 65'? Thank you for your time and knowledge.
A:With Cobra, normally you are only eligible on it up to 18 or 36 months depending on the situation, I have never heard of it being “for life or up to 65” it may be a different circumstance, but I am unaware of it.I would talk with your Cobra administrator the person handling your benefits directly and they can let you know when your benefits will term.
