Q:  On June 29th, I along with several other people were terminated from our employer, as of today July 28, they have not given any of us information for the Cobra plan. The company keeps saying they will send us the information, but to no avail, and by delaying in getting it to us...we will loose our chance at acquiring the plan...what can we do? I would appreciate any help you give me.

A:  When you lose your benefits, if you are eligible for Cobra your employer by law has 45 days to send you the Cobra information.  When you receive the information you have 60 days to elect the coverage.  If you haven’t received the packet after 45 days from your last day of benefits you can contact the Department of Labor they are who oversee the law, their website is www.dol.gov/COBRA
