Q:Our cobra is due to end this Oct it was thru my husbands previous employee I am going thru an illness that I am sure will be a continuation right thru Oct... Is there a way we can either continue Cobra or keep the same policy and pay more for it so we don’t run into pre-existing condition issues we have united health care PPO. Thank you
A:It may be possible to extend, but I am unaware of the requirements or eligibility. You can try to talk with your Cobra administrator and see if there is a way to do so.If you are not sure who your administrator is you should talk with your past employer and they can give you that information. If there is no way for you to extend your Cobra, my recommendation would be to contact your State Department of Insurance to see what they can offer you.
