Q:  My job ends 8-31-09; I may sign up with another company. Can I stay on Cobra until the new company’s open enrollment next year or do I have to take their coverage from my first day?

A:  You can elect Cobra and be on it until the next open enrollment, however, if your Cobra is subject to the stimulus, the reduced premium, when you get a new job that offers insurance your Cobra is no longer eligible for the reduction.  You can stay on the Cobra coverage but will be paying for it 102% no longer are you paying the 35%.
