Q:  Yesterday I received a phone call that I had been approved for disability. I am currently off work on short term disability. They took the qualifying date back to 2007. Will I still be able to bet COBRA?

A:  You would need to speak with your Cobra administrator they are the ones handling your Cobra benefits; they would be able to let you know if you qualify for Cobra.  It depends when you lost your insurance through your past employer if you can still elect Cobra coverage.  If you recently lost your benefits you may be able to elect the coverage and continue your insurance on Cobra, but I would recommend verifying that with your past employer or your Cobra administrator.  You can also find out more information at www.dol.gov/COBRA
