Q: I have received a job offer I am greatly interested in, but the new company does not provide insurance. I currently have insurance with my present job. I have almost cleared two years since being treated for Ovarian Cancer. All tests have been fine since the second clemo treament. Will I be able to get insurance or can I keep what I have through Cobra?
A: As long as your previous employer has more than 20 employees you qualify for COBRA. for up to 18 months. You will be able to remain on COBRA for the duration of the 18 months when you start your new job because they don't offer insurance. After the 18 months, you will need to find other insurance. Your past medical history will be a factor in applying for new health nsurance unless you are going on an employers group health policy.
