Q:  I was working 32-40 hours a week for a 4 person office and was given full benefits including Blue Cross PPO by my employer. I was let go due to his money problems. I asked him about Cobra and he said he would have the information sent to me. I worked for him for 9 months. Is he responsible for offering me Cobra?

A:  Normally Cobra is only an option if there is 20 or more employees.  Its possible that he may offer you Cobra, but he would need to contact the Department of Labor to verify and receive the information on how to do so.  They do have a website that you can visit that explains in more detail about how exactly the Cobra law works, feel free to visit www.dol.gov/COBRA
