Q:My wife and I are presently on Cobra, but my 18 months will run out in Dec. Can I continue to keep this ins. as long as I pay the premium?
A:Once you have termed out your Cobra you can normally only be under the coverage for up to 18 months, you can see if you have a qualifying event that subjects you to more but to my understanding its just the 18 months. You can go to www.dol.gov/COBRA to see if you can find information on extending it or you and my best recommendation would be to speak with your Cobra administrator, the person handling your benefits directly. If you are unsure who that is, call your past employer they should have that information for you.
