Q:  I'm going to be laid off in November and I’m currently 5 months pregnant. To be added to my spouses insurance will cost $800/mo or more, which we cannot afford. But my cobra is under $300/mo which is also a struggle. Why can I not qualify for the recovery and reinvestment act?

A:  You are in-eligible for the reduction in the Cobra cost because you have other Insurance available to you through your spouses employer.  The main requirements for the reduction in your premium are if you are involuntarily terminated, not eligible for Medicare, and NOT eligible for spouses insurance they have through an employer.  You can find more information about the eligibility at www.dol.gov/COBRA
