Q:  I have been unemployed for 1 year. Do I qualify for Cobra Insurance? Also my blood pressure has been a little high for 4 weeks. Is this a preexisting condition? Thank you

A:  Cobra is a continuation after you have lost your job and your employer offers it because they meet the requirements of the law.  However, you normally only have 60 days to elect the coverage, therefore I don’t think you can still enroll due to the fact it was 1 year ago.   Blood pressure is a pre-existing condition, you would still be eligible for the following short term plan, but it would not be covered.  It covers you for all new illness and all new injury.
