Q:  I signed up for Cobra insurance because my job ended. I need to reach you ASAP because I have fallen and broken my ankle and shattered my heel and the doctors will not see me without proof of insurance. I showed the clinic my insurance card but they will not accept it and the Premier Blue Cross says they do not handle this and will not help me. WHAT can I do now? I am in pain, I need to have surgery and nobody seems to know what I need to do for COBRA to work.

A:  You need to speak to your past employer and see if they can get you the information you need or ask them who your Cobra administrator is, the 3rd party that is handling your Cobra benefits.  That is who you need to speak to, find out why it hasn’t been processed if your coverage has become active yet.  That is ultimately who you need to speak to, to find out why your coverage hasn’t become active.
