Q:  How long after you have been laid off/terminated can you apply for COBRA? And does your previous employer have to pay part of the costs?

A:  When you lose your job by law the past employer has 45 days to send you your Cobra paperwork, if you are still wondering if you are in that time frame to enroll into Cobra you would need to speak with your past employer and see if you are still in your “open enrollment” period.  As far as the reduction, if Cobra isn’t an option then neither is the reduction, but if Cobra is an option and you were involuntarily terminated and not eligible for Medicare or a spouses Insurance than you could possibly receive the reduction.  That information as well comes from your past employer or Cobra administrator.
