Q:  I am currently with an employer that I have benefits with.  I am getting ready to change jobs and will have either a 60-90 day lapse from my current jobs coverage to the new jobs coverage.  If I get cobra for the 60-90 days and then switch over to the new insurance plan with the new job will the pregnancy be covered?

A:  COBRA is a continuation of the same Insurance you had when you were working, so your COBRA benefits should cover your pregnancy.  As far as if the new job will cover the pregnancy, you haven’t had  a lapse in your coverage if you take the COBRA so you shouldn’t have any waiting periods for pre-existing conditions.  You would just need to be sure that your new coverage is going to cover maternity, and if it does than you should be good to go.
