Q:  I will be laid off work February 26, the next week my dependent will have knee surgery, and I plan on using Cobra work says I'm OK.  And that I can only have to pay the 35% government pays rest and this ends February 28, 2010.

A:  If COBRA is an option to you that sounds the best to make sure that your dependents knee surgery is covered, and the reduction sounds like it’s an option as long as you lose your benefits before the end of March.  If so than your Cobra would be at the reduced subsidized rate.  To get this information and to enroll into the Cobra you need to contact your past employers HR Department and get your Cobra packet from them.
