Q:  My 18 months of Cobra coverage ends on March 30, 2010. I am 60 years old and was just turned down for insurance due to high cholesterol.  Is there any extension of benefits beyond the 18 months for people who are not disabled?  I read somewhere that the house was trying to extend benefits.  Is there any hope of this?

A:  The Government passed an extension on the time you could be laid off and receive the reduction in your Cobra cost, but nothing to my knowledge has been passed about the extension of the 18 months for people who are not disabled.  You could always try your State Department to see if they can offer you any coverage, or you can look at other Insurance Companies to see if you can get coverage.  You can call us directly to see what us as an Insurance Company have to offer, 877-279-7959 x 207
