Q:  My wife is on my Cobra plan that will expire in September. We just found out she is 6 weeks pregnant. Is Cobra required to continue coverage through the pregnancy? We will not qualify for any state help.

A:  With Cobra if you have been on it for its 18 month duration, to my understanding you cannot extend it unless it’s due to a disability.  The best option for you, and since your wife is pregnant is a group health plan.  So to have an employer who offers health insurance it would be the best option for her, since she is already pregnant you won’t be able to find any coverage that will cover her.  You said you don’t qualify for State, that is the only other option I can recommend.
