Q:  My question is that my wife is currently pregnant will we be covered under COBRA or is that a preexisting condition not covered? What if I find a job before the baby is born, but my new employer does not cover for 6 months, will I continue to use COBRA until my employee covers us?

A:  COBRA is a continuation of your previous employer's group health policy.  If there is coverage for pregnancy on that health plan than there will be coverage for the pregnancy through COBRA continuation. Your newborn child can be added on to COBRA for additional premiums.  You will be able to remain on COBRA for up to 18 months or until you and your family can be enrolled on your new employer's group health
