Q: I was terminated from my job . Part of my severance package was that my employer would pick up the cost of my COBRA insurance for 3 months. I have not received the COBRA Information Packet or instructions on how to continue my coverage. My former employer is unresponsive. Where can I find this information?

A: Your employer legally has up to 45 days to get to you the information you need to elect COBRA. If you still haven't received it, you would need to contact your previous employer again. Because the coverage is specific through your employer, you can only get the information packet from them. If your employer can not answer your questions or does not comply, you can call the Department of Labor at 1-866-487-2365

If you are interested in an alternative to COBRA that has next day coverage available, call us at 1-877-279-7959 8am - 5pm CST
