Q:  My mom was just laid off from her job after 22 years. My dad is disabled and recieves disability and medicare. He was on my moms insurance from work. She has to get cobra now . Is my dad eligible for cobra?

A: Once he is entitled to Medicare he will no longer be allowed to continue on the employer’s group health plan. If there are any dependants, they may take advantage of COBRA, but he will not. You are not able to have both Medicare and COBRA.
