Q: I retired 4 days ago and the company I worked for said that I will receive cobra enrollment information from the insurance company in about 10 days. If I needed to go to the doctor prior to enrollment completion am I going to be covered by insurance? I am concerned that if my health failed I might not have insurance.

A: If you need to see a doctor prior to completing the enrollment form, you can still submit your insurance card. Even if they say your insurance isn't active, as soon as your enrollment into COBRA is complete and you pay your first COBRA premium, your coverage is retroactive back to the date of the loss of coverage.
