Q: I'm looking at changing jobs. If my company medical starts on Aug 1st how long do I have to wait before I would qualify for Cobra if I changed jobs?

A:  If your employer has more than 20 employees and you are enrolled in their group health plan you would be eligible for COBRA continuation.  COBRA will begin the day after the qualifying event took place or when the group health coverage ceased because of a qualifying event.  COBRA is a continuation of coverage and there will not be a lapse in coverage.
