Q:  Is Cobra only applicable for people who had insurance with an employer prior?  I had health insurance thru my school- does that count?

A: COBRA Laws applies to all group health plans through an employer including state and local government employers.  COBRA requires continuation of the group health insurance for the employee, their spouse and dependents when a qualifying event occurs.  If you were a student and your insurance was from your school, you should contact them to see if they offer a continuation of your policy.
